This is a great one of course and this 4K is a must own. I just want to add, do yourself a favor and watch those other sequels and films based on Jean Shepherd's stories, they are all really good. They have the same feel and joy to them and deserve a big fancy box set as well. Ollie Hopnoodle, My Summer Story, and yes… even the 2012 sequel is so much fun. For those that enjoy how A CHRISTMAS STORY makes them feel, these other films do indeed reach for the same goal. Are they as great? Of course not but it doesn't mean they're not good. Now the LIVE 2017 special, not a fan.
Still haven't seen the new 2022 film but I'm so excited for it.
I saw this in the theatre quite a few times during its first run in 83 and it came back to theatres a year later in 84 in which I had to go. The picture was beautiful in the theatre, it didn’t seem hazy to me. The 4K is as close to the 35 mm print as we’re going to get. The theatre had the beautiful red just like the 4K. I love this 4K.
Too bad they didn't carry over the Gremlins special features from the 2 disc limited edition. (Diamond edition or whatever it was)

Great review Heath, as usual. Soap poisoning is also a favorite in this house. 🙂 Fun fact: the table photographer at my senior prom in 1994 asked me for my autograph as he was convinced I was Ralphie. To this day, Peter Billingsley remains my celebrity doppelganger.
Darren McGavin is great in this and he definitely sounds like Kolchak when he goes into a rant about the news.
Saw this in the theaters when I was 11. It really is a wonderful film. I have the DVD special edition so definitely will upgrade. Great video Heath
This is how "It's a Wonderful Life" became a Christmas classic too.
When it first hit hbo somewhere in the mid 80s I watched it over and over. Love me McGavin.
