Kathal Movie Review by Prathyush | Sanya Malhotra, Rajpal Yadav and Vijay Raaz | Film Companion
Kathal starring Sanya Malhotra, Rajpal Yadav, and Vijay Raaz is an innocent show, where lovers barely touch and the ultimate act of teenage, feminine rebellion is tearing your jeans and eating gutka. Although the film keeps implying sexual connotations, such as when an incompetent officer sucks on a popsicle in front of Mahima, it refrains from verbalizing any of it. This isn’t the world of the sensuous, modern meme-age where fruits and vegetables serve as placeholders for sexual organs. And besides, what would Kathal stand for? To know more about the film, watch the full review by Prathyush Parasuraman on Reviews and More by Film Companion.

This movie belongs to a yet unnamed genre, not even an absurdist comedy because that would completely disregard all the efforts writers put in to incorporate the stark realism of our society in each and every frame. This is something new, undefined, unrefined genre of film still finding it ways through movies like kathal that will surely pave a way for maybe a new indian wave of cinema . I see Indian cinema's future in kathal . The more box office or producers figure out whats working and whats not in this unnamed genre for now, the better the films are going to get. None of those reading will disgree that kathal made them feel good, and once the movie makers develop more to make us feel great and even shout in our seats through kathal, thats when this unnamed genre will truly be born.
Movie is very good.must watch
How can it be realist when it really is an absurdist comedy satire.. wish Anupama had previewed this instead of Pratyush
I think Pratyush has read a little too much of Marx, Nietzsche, Byron, Wordsworth, Chomsky, Kafka and Shakespeare. This is not meant to be Satyajit Ray, Kurosawa, Woody Allen or a Polanski type film. If anything, it is closer to the Cohen Brothers. It is meant to be a subtle comedy, primarily, and not a hard-hitting social commentary that gets in the way of the comedy, although it is there, it is not obnoxious and in-your-face. This film is highly enjoyable of an evening. Just take your intellectual hat off and let some things go. Sanya Malhotra is a wonderful actress and she has still not disappointed me yet.
The film is a absurdist satire tu usme realism kaha se aayega mere bhai
Azam Khan, his buffalo and UP police😅. News those days😂
After watching Antman and wasp – quantumania .. which was utterly ridiculous. ( I mean millions of dollars spent on jokes about "Holes" 🤮)
Kathal was so much fun to watch..
Subtle humor and the last fight was hilarious 🤣 😂
Loved kathal 😍
Totally disagree with the review, hailing from MP myself, this film was an accurate representation of us , the dialect, the Ramnarayan Panchang, the Naik Tshirt the references . Movie is really a good watch , don’t get influenced by this pathetic review and stop yourself from enjoying a really really good film.
