  1. Horror movie?..nope Scary?..nope I guess I don't get all the hype about this film. Although it did feel like torture to sit through until the end.
Saw it in a small theater last night which would've been the perfect venue for an intense film. I was so disappointed in this film and feel angry that I can't get back those minutes of my life.

  2. I just watched it, it's neat. Pesonally I just can't stand movies that are more metaphore than actual story. The story doesn't have to be deep, it just has to feel like an actual story otherwise it just doesn't feel real. This movie didn't feel real, just felt like a series of creepy visuals that didn't pull me in to feel much so I can't say I'll ever watch it again.

I did enjoy the atmosphere though. The nostalgic cartoons constantly playing in the backgrounds, dark and claustrophobic and weirdly cozy way, but it's mixed with that mild surreality of a feaver dream. It's about as scary as a fever dream too.

  3. I saw it last night. I went to the latest show at 9:50pm. It was a packed theater. I would say about 15 minutes in I got up and moved to sit closer. I had to get away from the idiots I was sitting next to. They had no clue what they had gotten themselves into and couldn’t shut the f**k up. I wasn’t sure what to think at the beginning. I deliberately went in totally blind. I had no idea what it was about. I had just heard it was if David Lynch did poltergeist. I’m a huge Lynch fan so that intrigued me. It’s the first movie in a long time where when it was over people didn’t immediately get up and leave. People were processing and talking about what they had just watched. I’m very glad I got to see this in a theater with a bunch of people. Jerks not included. It’s a movie that I’ve been thinking about since I saw it. It definitely isn’t for everyone but totally unique regardless.

  4. This would have been great as a short film, but 100 minutes of grainy shots of walls, floors, and ceilings–with a few moments of "action" (aka anything at all happening) in between–was pure self-indulgence by the director. A good chunk of people in the theater walked out halfway through, the other half (including myself) stubbornly stuck it out waiting for it to get good… and then it ended. The looks of boredom and indignation paired with mutterings and head-shaking were enough to confirm that no one in the theater enjoyed it. There were no looks of fear, no "wows," just the looks of people who realized they spent $20+ each to be duped into staring at what is the equivalent of a mediocre avant-garde student art project. It had so much potential and I was excited to see it, but it turns out just slapping the label "experimental horror" on a mashup of random clips of nothing with a few whispers and (weak) jump scares scattered throughout doesn't make it good.

  5. For me, Skinamarink was the scariest movie I’ve ever seen! But I know not everyone will have same reaction as I did. I think what got me was that we’re basically watching a nightmare through the perspective of a child. A nightmare we can’t wake up from & can only remember the bits & pieces. We all had that moment from our childhood of being alone at night, being afraid of the dark & you might see something in the darkness & whatever or not your mind is just playing tricks on you. I think that’s what the director was going for. That what the movie is about we’re seeing bits & pieces from a child’s memory, but not getting the full picture. That’s what I got out of Skinamarink. A movie that less of a movie & more of an immersive experience through the mind of a child.
