  1. I find the love for this film and it's sequel baffling. They're far too self-aware, there's nothing wrong with a film being subtly "knowing" but the "hey guys listen to this HILARIOUS dialogue" schtick gets old quickly. That's one of the reasons that I think Scream and it's sequels have aged poorly whereas Craven's best work has endured. I loved old school exploitation Horror films of the 60's,70's & 80's but the "inspired by exploitation cinema" films of the late 90's – present day leave me cold. It's akin to when a celebrity is being "roasted" on a late night talk show it's all far too contrived and the material is weak.
