With James Gunn wrapping up his MCU trilogy and moving on to Superman Legacy and to craft the DCU Guardians Vol 3 feels like the end of an era. With the direction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe up in the air due to on and off screen circumstances it was nice to enjoy a legitimately great comic book movie. The guardians of the galaxy video game made me realise how much more compelling a competent Peter Quill is.
Many Marvel movies feature heroes that create their own villains. This one has a villain that creates a hero. And then, because that hero has something that he himself doesn't have – the capacity to love, one might even say a soul – he can't stand his existence and tries to destroy him. And gets his face ripped off for his trouble. A satisfying change, I thought.

Oh' shut up. The MCU is just fine & will be just fine. I love your channel, but enough of the looking for shit to talk about. As the great Kevin Smith says, you don't have to lower someone else to raise another. They both can be good with James Gunn & now without.
Until they bring back Cap, Iron Man, Thor (without Taika), or make Hulk menacing again… I'm done with the MCU. I'll peep a Spider-Man movie, but the MCU proper is an absolute pile of compost right now.
Also, if they do end up calling the X-Men "The Mutants", I will be pirating it. You can count on that.
